Kamala Harris to Release Health Report, Pressuring Trump to Reveal His Medical Records

In a bold move ahead of the 2024 presidential election, Democratic candidate Kamala Harris will release a medical report confirming her fitness to serve as president, her campaign announced. The report, set to be published this Saturday, aims to spotlight the health of 78-year-old Republican candidate Donald Trump, who has yet to provide a comprehensive update on his physical and mental well-being.

At 59, Harris’s campaign wants to highlight her readiness for the demanding role, with an advisor stating that the medical report will conclude she has the “physical and mental resilience” required to lead the country. This release comes as part of an effort to shift focus toward Trump’s health, a topic that has sparked increasing debate.

Trump, now the oldest presidential candidate in U.S. history following President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the race in July, has managed to avoid detailed questions about his health despite his age. Biden’s decision to step down came after a shaky debate performance against Trump, raising concerns among Democrats about Biden’s cognitive abilities.

However, Trump’s energetic public appearances have quelled concerns among many voters, even though his campaign has not offered any in-depth health disclosures. The polls are currently neck and neck between Harris and Trump ahead of the pivotal November 5 election.

Harris’s team is drawing attention to a New York Times investigation that flagged inconsistencies in Trump’s health disclosures. The report also analyzed Trump’s recent speeches, describing them as increasingly lengthy, confusing, and laced with vulgarities, which experts suggested could indicate cognitive decline.

Though Trump has repeatedly insisted he is in “excellent health,” his medical disclosures have been minimal. In late 2023, the former president’s doctor, Ronny Jackson, declared Trump healthy, but the brief report lacked specific details on the physical tests conducted during his September 2023 examination.

Trump’s health came under scrutiny again after surviving an assassination attempt during a rally in Pennsylvania in mid-2023. His doctor reassured the public of Trump’s recovery, though questions remained about the president’s fitness. Notably, Trump has boasted about passing a cognitive test back in 2018 but memorably botched his doctor’s name, calling him “Ronny Johnson.”

If Trump wins in November, he would be 82 by the end of his second term in the White House, further intensifying the debate over the fitness of aging candidates in American politics.
